Residential Painters in Allendale – A Comprehensive List of Services That Will Help Keep Your Home in Tip-Top Shape
Believe it or not, the space that is today known as Allendale was once a wilderness that only the Native American Indians knew about. However, in the early 1700s, things began to take a different trajectory. Several adventurous settlers came and settled in the land and built homesteads and farms in the area.
During those times, Allendale was controlled by the East New Jersey Board of Proprietors. And despite this, many of these real estate speculators never set their feet on the land. In its initial years, Allendale hopped from one Township to the next. It started out as New Bardaboes Township in 1693 but changed to Franklin Township in 1767 and later to Ho-Ho-Kus Township in 1885 and finally Orvil Township to the present day. At the time, it was predominantly a farmers’ community that grew peaches, strawberries, and apples. But this too has changed over the years. Today, Allendale is a thriving business district that’s a huge upgrade of what it once was.
However, the upgrade didn’t come without a price and Allendale has paid a hefty amount. You see, in the ’80s, the rise of the drug cartels hit it hard. Allendale was targeted by the drug lords as they wanted to set up shop in the area. And as you’d guess, the rise of the drug business led to a rise in crime and an outward migration. Between 1970 and 2000, the town had lost a whopping 2/3 of the population. Unfortunately, Allendale went into a neglected state.
But there’s some good news. Despite the neglect over the past couple of years, Allendale is bouncing back. Residents who care deeply about the city are revitalizing it and investing heavily in a facelift. Homes are being built and renovated and crime has reduced significantly. Some of the buildings that were residential houses back in the day were turned into stores and the business district looks way better.
